A challenging workload in remote areas…
Recently JAHAMA Highland Estates have been reviewing stock fencing, just one example where collaborative working is essential as there are many factors to consider. Initial land visits have taken place with one of our Head Stalkers, a local farmer, a JAHAMA Representative and an ecology and land management advisor from Strath Caulaidh Limited. Across our vast landholding, the team work closely with the local farming community, contractors, and the public to ensure any works that are carried out, do not negatively impact land use, ecology or encroach on public access.
With approximately 11km of stock fencing required in one of our most remote areas on rough terrain, there is a lot of work that goes into the planning to ensure there is a smooth balance of gate access, water gates, public access to Munros, bothy access and to ensure farming activities can continue.
Located in the Lairig Glen, this particular section of land takes an hour to drive to via 4x4, followed by another 1.5 hrs via argocat and sits between Sgurr Innse and Cruach Innse in our most North Easternly part of Killiechonate Estate.
