Deer management at JAHAMA Highland Estates

Deer management at JAHAMA Highland Estates

JAHAMA Highland Estates is an innovative, multi-enterprise rural business covering 114,000 acres of the Scottish Highlands. We are part of the GFG Alliance, a global industrial conglomerate. We are currently recruiting for a permanent Estate Ghillie to join our well-established sporting team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, reporting to a Head Stalker and being a proficient user of argocats and quadbikes. Flexibility, dedication and a modern approach to sporting management will be key attributes.

Based in Kinlochleven and reporting to the Mamore Head Stalker, the Estate Ghillie will provide assistance as directed in deer management, estate maintenance and environmental management.

Depending on the time of year, key tasks within the role are the mechanical extraction of deer in challenging terrain, assisting the Head Stalker with guest hospitality, working alongside the sporting team in carrying out maintenance tasks, and participating in environmental work such as habitat monitoring and habitat enhancement. Previous experience of Highland deer management is essential, along with sit-in and sit-astride ATV tickets and a current off-road driving qualification.

JAHAMA Highland Estates operates in an iconic landscape popular with visitors from around the world and for local recreation. We support responsible access, and positive visitor engagement is an important task for all our staff. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a public-facing environment and acting as an ambassador for the Estate.
