Venison Sales

Jahama Highland Estates Wild Venison Shop

With our official launch on 6 November, our new Wild Venison Shop will be open to the public regularly from Saturday 7 November selling a range of products at an accessible price.

The shop is located in a retail pod on Ben Nevis Industrial Estate, opposite the Highland Council Recycling Centre. We are currently operating C-19 social distancing, and would be grateful if customers could comply with Scottish Government C-19 requirements in the shop. Car parking is available on site.

Our trial opening hours are initially:

–              Tuesdays: 0900 – 1400

–              Thursdays: 1230 – 1700

–              Saturdays: 1000 – 1500

We may increase our opening times according to demand. Payment is by card only after 19 November, and please bring your own reusable bag.

The move to retail our own venison is a natural progression for JHE, which is home to a sustainable population of native red deer. Numbers across our 114,000 acre landholding have to be managed by culling on an annual basis to avoid overgrazing of habitat and consequent deer welfare problems. Selling venison locally also links the wider community more closely to the traditional activity of deer stalking on JHE, continuing our commitment to make the vast local natural resources more accessible to the surrounding communities. The meat will be branded with the Gaelic saying ‘Fiadh á Fireach’, which translates as ‘a deer from the hill’, reflecting the ancient connection between Highland people and natural resources.
