Sherramore Lodge is a homely Victorian sporting lodge situated on the banks of the famous River Spey, in the Monadhliath mountains on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park.
Acquired by the current owners, the GFG Alliance, in 2016, historically this part of Jahama Highland Estates formed part of the lands owned by the Chief of Clan MacPherson. Sherramore Lodge was built around 1860 by the owner of the neighbouring Ardverikie Estate.
This delightful home-from-home enjoys panoramic views over the rugged Highland countryside, overlooking the headwaters of the River Spey with snow-capped mountains as its backdrop. Traditionally decorated, the Lodge sleeps 15 people in 9 bedrooms, all with shared bathrooms or shower rooms. To the rear of the property are Estate cottages and there is plenty of parking available for those staying at the Lodge.
The spacious entrance hall has a feature pine staircase and sporting décor, whilst the drawing room and dining room are both impressive traditional lodge rooms ideal for entertaining. The Lodge kitchen has an Aga and plenty of space for gathering and cooking. Chef’s accommodation, for guests not wishing to self-cater, is located adjacent to guests’ bedrooms on the top floor of the Lodge.
The Great Glen is a walker or mountain biker’s haven, with direct access from the Lodge through the legendary Corrieyairack Pass which rises to a height of 2,500 feet. There are ample opportunities for walking both on the Estate and further afield in the Cairngorms and offering scope both for the serious hill walker as well as for those who prefer more leisurely days. The Lodge is available to let all year round, and is frequently booked by our sporting guests.
